Laser care for thickened and fungal nails
A fungal nail can become discoloured, thickened and crumbly. At C Dermacare, the course starts with an assessment of your nails and concerns. We discuss whether laser care is appropriate and whether another assessment is needed first: not every discoloured or thickened nail is caused by fungus.
We use GentleMax Pro. Short laser pulses deliver heat into the nail and are used to improve the appearance of the affected nail. Visible change also depends on nail growth. Laser does not guarantee that infection will clear or that reinfection will be prevented.
A course that considers nail growth
The treatment outline starts with at least three appointments, usually spaced three to five weeks apart. Longstanding or more extensively affected nails may need extra visits. We discuss the number, expected course and progress at your consultation and follow-ups.
Nail care and hygiene are part of the plan. You receive home-care advice to care for your nails and reduce the risk of reinfection. If appropriate, Simone can professionally prepare the nails with a pedicure before laser treatment at C Dermacare. Contact us to coordinate these appointments.
